Understand Companions
before investing

Hatch eggs, choose a main partner, unlock evolution and Jogress, and build a team with a plan.

Terms to distinguish

A Mercenary DigiEgg hatches a new partner; Data is the material fed into the Incubator; Evolution unlocks forms for one partner; and Jogress is an evolution using two or more Companions.

Mercenary DigiEgg hatching in detail

  1. Find the correct egg type

Mercenary DigiEggs commonly have a bright aura and a name identifying the Companion line, unlike ordinary eggs. They may come from monsters, events, or trading, depending on server systems.

  2. Prepare the correct Data type

Check the egg details for the required Data type and quantity. Different Data types cannot replace one another.

  3. Go to the Incubator

Open the Incubator, select Create Mercenary, register the egg, then choose Data Input to begin each Phase.

  4. Pass at least 3 Phases

You generally need at least 3 successful phases to hatch. A failure consumes Data and may destroy the egg, so prepare more than the minimum amount of Data.

  5. Choose the size before hatching

A 3/5 can hatch, but is generally weaker than a 4/5 or 5/5. A 4/5 is a cost-effective starting point for new players, while 5/5 suits a partner you plan to use long term.

Do not click without reading

Before every Data Input, check the egg name, Data type, quantity, and Phase status. Do not attempt a rare egg without reserve materials.

Hatch rates from the server database

These values are read from the current server’s `config_hatch`. Use them for planning only, because the system may be adjusted in a patch.

Main partner evolution

01

Unlock form slots

Open the evolution window to see whether the next form requires a level, item, or quest. Do not buy an item before seeing the actual requirement.

02

Skills and resources

Upgrade skills you actually use first. Save rare materials for the core of your team, and do not upgrade every partner at once.

03

Jogress

You need the companion pair specified by the system in your Mercenary lineup, and usually must complete quests with a specific NPC and use the appropriate Jogress Chip.

04

The lower level sets the result

Jogress generally uses the lower-level partner as its basis, so level the pair close together before starting the quest or evolution.

What to check on the character screen

  • Whether main level and Skill Level are separate.
  • Whether the next form is unlocked and which item it uses.
  • How HP, DS, AP, CT, and Defense change by size/form.
  • Whether a partner you plan to remove from the team is still needed for a Jogress pair or quest.
